A Multitude of Computer Programming Languages 2019

According to one online programming fanatic, there are 2500 computer programming languages in use today, by someone, somewhere. This article will stick to the languages that are in widespread use today which, by themselves, number perhaps a score or more and are difficult to separate and categorize anyway. As with many terms in the computer industry, the definition of what constitutes a programming language is subject to debate. One definition holds that a programming language (like other languages) is a set of formal specifications that define syntax, vocabulary and meaning. An interesting crossover to the language arts: here are the criteria contained in that definition: Data types Data structures Instruction and control flow Design philosophy Compilation and interpretation Without getting into detail on what those components mean, they do provide some idea of what constitutes a language. Its a construction design tool with its own proprietary building materials. Some languages are designed and function best with certain categories of software. Here is a list of commonly used programming languages: Java C C++ Perl PHP Visual Basic SQL Python Shell COBOL dBase .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b:active, .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u05cf36280e09f7a08b2bc26ac28a580b:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ Ohio Colleges and Universities Pursuing Online and Campus Based Education in Ohio, the Buckeye StateJava and PHP are languages that are principally used for internet applications, although Java was designed by Sun Computers with the hope of a much further reach. Visual Basic is a language developed to be accessible to all programmers for building applications that run on Microsoft platforms. It has been immensely popular because of its ease of use. Visual Basic.net is also on the market today, applying the techniques developed in Visual Basic to an HTML environment. The drag-and-drop feature is an example of a Visual Basic innovation. The program can be used to create an attractive graphical user interface (GUI) with ease. GUI is the appearance of the screen you see when the program is open, and how the buttons and controls on that screen function. C was developed in Bell Labs in the early seventies as an all purpose computer language. Its successor, C++, differs from C in that it is an object-oriented programming language, providing a fundamentally different set of tools. C++ has been so commonly used that one version of it has gained semi-official status as a programming standard under the acronym ANSI (American National Standards Institute). .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387:active, .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u2472a961909028eb55d5c13e2e2ab387:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ Earning a Master's Degree in Health Care OnlineBoth Java and dBase are used to create database programs. Frederick Baily was born a slave in February 1818 on Holmes Hill Farm, near the town of Easton on Marylands Eastern Shore. The farm was part of an estate owned by Aaron Anthony, who also managed the plantations of Edward Lloyd V, one of the wealthiest men in Maryland. The main Lloyd Plantation was near the eastern side of Chesapeake Bay, 12 miles from Holmes Hill Farm, in a home Anthony had built near the Lloyd mansion, was where Fredericks first master lived. Fredericks mother, Harriet Baily, worked the cornfields surrounding Holmes Hill. He knew little of his father except that the man was white. As a child, he had he ard rumors that the master, Aaron Anthony, had sired him. Because Harriet Baily was required to work long hours in the fields, Frederick had been sent to live with his grandmother, Betsey Baily. Betsy Baily lived in a cabin a short distance from Holmes Hill Farm. Her job was to look after Harriets children until they were old enough to work. Fredericks mother visited him when she could, but he had only a hazy memory of her. He spent his childhood playing in the woods near his grandmothers cabin. He did not think of himself as a slave during these years. Only gradually did Frederick learn about a person his grandmother would refer to as Old Master and when she spoke of Old Master it was with certain fear. At age 6, Fredericks grandmother had told him that they were taking a long journey. They set out westward, with Frederick clinging to his grandmothers skirt with fear and uncertainty They had approached a large elegant home, the Lloyd Plantation, where several children were playing on the grounds. Betsy Baily had pointed out 3 children which were his brother Perry, and his sisters Sara and Eliza. His grandmother had told him to join his siblings and he did so reluctantly. After a while one of the children yelled out to Frederick that his grandmother was gone. Frederick fell to the ground and wept, he was about to learn the harsh realities of the slave system. The slave children of Aaron Anthonys were fed cornmeal mush that was placed in a trough, to which they were called. Frederick later wrote like so many pigs. The children made homemade spoons from oyster shells to eat with and competed with each other for every last bite of food. The only clothing that they were provided with was one linen shirt which hung to their knees. The children were provided no beds or warm blankets. On cold winter nights they would huddle together in the kitchen of the Anthony house to keep each other warm. One night Frederick was awakened by a womans screams. He peered through a c rack in the wall of the kitchen only to see Aaron Anthony lashing the bare back of a woman, who was his aunt, Hester Baily. Frederick was terrified, but forced himself to watch the entire ordeal. This would not be the first whipping he would see, occasionally he himself would be the victim. He would learn that Aaron Anthony would brutally beat his slaves if they did not obey orders quickly enough. Fredericks mother was rarely able to visit her children due to the distance between Holmes Hill .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .postImageUrl , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:hover , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:visited , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:active { border:0!important; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:active , .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufd9f626659787598a64ada8e402ecd3d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Alexander The Great Essay
